By joining Rolls-Royce, you'll have the opportunity to work on world-class solutions, supported by a culture that believes individuality is our greatest strength, and all perspectives, experiences and backgrounds help us innovate and enable our high-performance culture.

Summary:

Performance Engineers within Engineering are accountable for designing, predicting, and understanding the steady-state and transient behaviour of our products and systems, supporting our engine fleet, new products, and future programs.

In this role, you will work on Gas Turbine Performance, responsible for delivering the required thrust or shaft power for a given fuel flow while ensuring stable and safe operation across the entire operational envelope.

Responsibilities:

  • Use modelling skills to predict and define/optimize engine performance for propulsion systems.
  • Act as whole engine integrators for propulsion system functional design by gathering sub-system component behaviour predictions and negotiating performance levels to optimize overall system requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the propulsion system, including compressor and combustion stability, as well as control system requirements and behaviour.
  • Identify root causes of issues and collaborate with stakeholders to implement solutions.
  • Support engine performance verification through test analysis and promote continuous improvement within the business.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong expertise in gas turbine performance and thermodynamic methods.
  • Understanding of cross-disciplinary engineering concepts such as system design, aerothermal, thermo-fluids, controls, and aircraft performance.
  • Familiarity with programming languages/tools like C++, NPSS, Matlab, and Python is advantageous.
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Our vision is to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that shaped our history continues into our future. Our multi-year transformation programme aims to turn Rolls-Royce into a high-performing, competitive, resilient and growing company. Join us, and it can be your future vision too.
